Falcon is always on the lookout for new members: paddlers of all standards and coaches are warmly received. The club caters for all abilities of paddlers and a year-round coaching and training programme is available. We are one of the oldest canoeing clubs on the Thames and the only one in the area offering Flatwater K1, K2 and a distinct K4 kayak racing programmes for both adults and juniors. We offer two flatwater disciplines: sprint and marathon; as well as recreational kayaking and canoeing. Flatwater sprint racing is an Olympic canoeing discipline. Paddlers sprint over 500m or 1000m. Recent successes for Great Britain include Bronze medals for Ian Wynne in Athens and Tim Brabants in Sydney. Flatwater marathon racing involves longer distances, typically between 4 and 24 miles. Anna Hemmings paddled for Great Britain and won the World Marathon Championships in Perth in 2006. Previous successes from Falcon Club members have included Gold and Silver medals at Flatwater World Marathon Championships. |
